Cells release fragments of DNA into the blood. A small fraction may come from a tumour; this is circulating tumour DNA, or ctDNA.

After treatment, repeat results may reveal a direction that one result cannot. That molecular view is intended to add context alongside imaging, pathology and clinical judgment—not replace them.
